RCCG LIGHTHOUSE PARISH- LIGHTS UP OPIC!!!

While some Churches make us question the need to PAY TITHE, RCCG Lighthouse Parish Area 8, have gone on to show how important a church can be.

Just recently, the Church embarked on a LIGHT UP OPIC project.

They were able to Light up a whole street with Street Lights. This action in itself will help the security operatives in the area, as well as beautiful the environs in itself.

Big Kudos to the pastorate and members of the church; hopefully, more religious organizations can take cue.

There was a time when EMPOWERING the Youths was an OPTIONAL duty, but now, it’s a NECCESSITY. Image result for african entrepreneur

SUMMER SCHOOL - Much Ado About Nothing

The Cost of Education now in Nigeria is undoubtedly on the high side, and parents are always eager to see school go on summer break. The Summer Break, usually between July – September of every year also presents an opportunity for Schools to Introduce themselves to the society as well as campaign for more students populace.

Unfortunately the Concept of SUMMER SCHOOL has been totally bastardized and has become tool to extracting more money from parents and yet offer the kids little or nothing different from the norm.

As a Teen, the Summer Holiday was a very interesting period for me; this was because there was always something different to learn within this period. On most occasions, I recall, going to my mom’s store to assist her in any way I can; while it seemed stressful and less colorful, it opened my eyes to a lot in respect to business and money.

It is painful however to see Children, Teens and young individuals going to SUMMER SCHOOLS where teachers reluctantly participate in, teaching them the same things they would be thought in the classroom when school resumes in September.

Honestly,  I feel sorry for parents and guardians.

Although we should give kudos to Private Schools for the initiative, I do believe that they can offer something more. A school can decide to use the Summer Holiday Period to train Talented Soccer Players; they can choose to teach Entrepreneurship to these Children & teens; they could engage the teens in Skills Acquisition Training; Truthfully, they can do more with this 3 months.

UP NEPA!!! THE CURIOUS CASE OF AGBARA

As Child, this was what we were used to saying whenever power is restored, but thanks to God, little Children in OPIC, Petedo and its environs may not know what that term means.

While the whole country is facing the adverse effect of CHANGE, residents of OPIC Estate are singing a different song; as far as ELECTRICITY is concerned.
For more than 7 weeks now, many residents of OPIC Estate and its environs have been enjoying at least 21 hrs of power supply daily. It’s so amazing that, many sleep and wake up with light straight up.
Some people rumored that the Flooding that happened on the Island caused the EKDC to cut power from that area and because its excess, it had to be redistributed towards the Industrial Area (Agbara).
Others opined that the new GM is the one pressing all the right buttons to ensure that the Power situation is upgraded.
The Distribution of Pre-paid meters to majority of the residents could be another factor though, as with Prepaid meters Energy can be easily conserved, monitored and bills accurately determined.
Well, whatever the reason behind this 21/7 Constant Light, The Residents Remain Grateful that they are enjoying this unique feat. Someone recently put USED GEN FOR SALE at his front gate, I guess it’s because nowadays he doesn’t have much need for it.

Anyway sha… My prayer is that this trend should continue for a looooooooonnnnnnggggg time. #Smiles.
