About HOUSE HELPS

INTRODUCTION:

Years before now, the concept of House Helps wasn’t popular. Our mothers had just one simple responsibility TAKING CARE OF THE HOME. However, as time progressed, the need for women to get involved with providing for the home increased their responsibilities; Therefore the need for a helping hand.
While it is NOT advisable for (young) couples to employ the services of a House Help, there are certain cautions that shouldn’t be neglected if their relevance becomes inevitable.

FACTS
1.      HOUSE HELPS ARE HUMANS TOO: We have heard over and over again, stories of House Helps who are maltreated and placed in inhumane conditions at their employers hands. That shouldn’t be. It is important you treat your house helps like human beings.

2.      THEY INFLUENCE YOUR CHILDREN: One of the main reasons most married people get House Helps is so that there is someone to always take care of the Kids when both parents are at work or occupied with something else. Every parent should know that the formulation age of Children is between 1-6 years, things that are learnt at that stage of life has a huge role in determining who the child becomes in the future. The House Help can influence their Sexual, Language, Spirituality and Education orientation.

3.      THEY ARE SECURITY RISKS: Most thieves always confess that they get inside information about the occupants of the house from the House Help. No matter how careful a family tries to be, the house help is aware about certain things that can cause harm to the family. Whether they look smart or otherwise, the security threat they pose cannot be under rated.

With these kind of Knowledge, how best can a family HANDLE the presence of a HOUSE HELP in the Home?

SOLUTIONS

a.      It’s BEST a House Help doesn’t LIVE in the House. This will limit their access to certain things and information.

b.      Although the Help is NEEDED, don’t make it obvious that they are indispensable. Rather than leave ALL the major job for the HOUSE HELP, work together with the House Help. If a House Help discovers their employer is lazy, they will begin to misbehave.

c.       Respect them: Every human appreciates respect. Don’t fail into the temptation of physically abusing your House Help. This act kills their self-respect, makes them see you as terror and in turn would make them look/feel unhappy, sad & unnecessarily quite & timid.

d.      Don’t Abuse: When angry, try not to use insulting words on your house help, especially when your children are around. For the sake of your children’s future, it’s important you don’t insult the help. Children that are used to seeing their House Helps being abused tend to become arrogant and abusive themselves.

e.      Support their Dreams: Every Human has a DREAM, the fact that they are willingly or conditioned to serve as House Help at that point doesn’t mean they don’t think of being something else in future. As they support in making your life easier, do your best to ensure they are GROWING too in life. Support their Education, Support their talent, Support their Dreams. People do more when they feel loved and wanted.

Conclusively, in this fast paced world, most families need additional help in order to lead a beautiful and fulfilling life. If you apply these simple suggestions, I am confident that you would have a peaceful & Happy Home with amazing Children.

#BUSINESS My Struggles as An Online Entrepreneur!

There are no gainful employments in Nigeria…

That’s no longer news; actually, a Primary 6 student is aware of that fact. Despite these challenge, Nigeria youths are rising up to the challenge by creating Jobs for ourselves. Following the recent world trend we are are embracing E-Commerce. As beautiful as the concept of E-commerce is, certain factors can serve as a hindrance to its growth in Nigeria vis-viz Africa. And honestly, I am getting tired.

I decided to carry out a little researched carried out in the Central Part of Lagos Mainland Surulere to be precise, over 50 of the Online Stores within that area had a major challenge with Logistics.

Before I share my own story, hear is what I observed from other budding entrepreneurs like me.
One of the Business Owners I interviewed simply known as Jude confessed that he couldn’t use courier services because they are too expensive, he would rather get an in-house errand personnel who makes the deliveries to several parts of Lagos. According to him, after about 6 months, he discovered that majority of his customers complained about the LATE delivery of items order for. This was because, although his in-house errand personnel knew Lagos well, he couldn’t easily locate the Residence of certain clients who live in secluded parts of Lagos. After 6 months, he discovered that her client based reduced drastically.

Another Start Up entrepreneur who has an Online Boutique complained that although she worked with a Courier service, she realized that after 12 months, she couldn’t Break Even. Majority of her Profit was being used to service the courier service, hereby affecting other key areas of her online boutique.

Funke who is into printing also complained that due to the nature of her Job, she has not been able to fully expand. Because she can’t afford to tell her clients stories, she takes the printed fliers, banners, business cards, magazines and stuffs, directly to the customers herself. In doing this, her office operations are put on hold until she returns. With the unpredictable nature of Lagos roads, she sometimes doesn’t get back to the office that day.

After listening to the Logistics Challenges faced by these persons, I knew that indeed there is a major problem. On my part as Food Vendor, I discovered that I couldn’t effectively manage the process of delivering food myself. My company bought a Bike and for a while it seemed like all was good, but as we expanded I realized that we couldn’t get to all our clients effectively. We needed more bikes; we also needed to improve on our menu and many other things. Over time, I realize my business was losing focus.

As I speak to you now, I really don’t know the way forward.
